Like eating here, and have for years. I only get the fried shrimp, no need to mess with perfection. Wish they would open one a little closer to me. This place would be a 4 star easy with an updated look, most people fly bye and think it's another warehouse type business. the food is good, location not so much.

Visiting Fleming Island for the weekend, wanted to try a local seafood place. Right amount of food for a great price! I had the fried shrimp and oyster combo, which came with hush puppies, baked potato, and cole slaw. I would highly recommend trying Corky Bells if you want good food for a fair price. I actually remember when this was located Hwy 16 headed to St Augustine.

Good lunch; fish was fresh, and well prepared. I asked for baked, and it was not dried out. Sides were also good, as was the tea. Typical fish camp fare, not being negative, but it's typical fish camp fare. Serving staff was excellent, and the restaurant was clean.

We were in town visiting my grandparents at Penney Farms and we went out with our entire group of about 12 people and Corky Bells was about the best selection close to their home. It's an old school style seafood restaurant of what many would consider a "fish camp." There nothing flashy and fancy about a spot like this and Corky Bells was as simple, decent, and friendly as they come. The food was actually pretty good... considering 80% of the menu is fried. We started with fried okra and corn nuggets which were both fantastic. I grew up eating corn nuggets at almost every BBQ restaurant we would go to and these stood up the ones in my memory. Super sweet, crunchy on the outside, and housing the texture of cornbread on the inside. Fantastic. Everyone ordered different entrees and I split some of the fish and chips (cod) with my brother and also some gator tail. Now, if you're reading this and wondering if it was actually "alligator tail," the answer is yes. It's delicious. This joint had two varieties, too -- regular fried and buffalo. Pretty much like chicken and just like I remember. The cod was great, too. All of the fixin's you'd imagine were on the table as well -- hush puppies, fries, bad salads, cole slaw, cheese grits. Everything was perfectly A-OK. The best part about this place was definitely the staff. They employ some of the sweetest people and they were so good to all of us. They were especially sweet to my niece and nephew with the typical little kid messes they made. They just laughed about it and kept telling them how cute they were. Such a nice thing to see from staff at a place like this. It's a great spot. The sweet people and familiar food will make anyone feel right at home.

A small mom and pop place with great food and a nice home cooking feel. The wait staff were nice and the atmosphere was a nice relaxed family place. The mahi was fresh and cooked perfectly, plenty of hush puppies that were also some of the best I have had and the kids menus had a great assortment of things. The scallops were great.

This was our first time trying this restaurant, and we'll probably go back. The menu offered a decent variety of choices...seafood (obviously), chicken & beef. You can have most of the seafood grilled, broiled, fried or blackened. We each ordered seafood, and all our plates were good sized. I ordered the scallop dinner & they weren't stingy at all. My husband ordered the salmon blackened, and it was tasty without being too spicy. We also ordered the grilled shrimp and there were three full skewers. My only criticism of the place would be the drinks. The water had a very fishy taste to it, and the sodas were a little flat. Other than that, we were very pleased and felt our money was well spent.

This place was a total hoot! People were interesting and the waite staff silly and sarcastic but efficient and got the job done. I ordered 1/2 order of clam strips and 1/2 fried oysters with a side salad and the tomatoes/okra. Clam strips were uneventful, why the heck did I bother. Oysters were GREAT! The Okra was unique and I enjoyed it. The side salad was barely a side but it was fresh. The green beans looked wonderful and all the fish entrees my dining party ordered looked great. I appreciated that they brought pitchers of refills and accommodated my request of half sweet/half unsweet tea. I will come back here the next time I am in Clay County on business! What a local jem!

Delicious! Whenever I go out to eat, I like to order the worst thing I can think of for me (the healthy stuff I mostly eat at home balances it out; also, I still usually get some kind of vegetable/side salad). So, in this case, I ordered the special of flounder and shrimp with two sides. I ordered everything fried, and a side of fries, and could not have been happier! Corky Bells has to have the best batter I have ever tried. Don't get me started on the huge portions! My leftovers were great the next day. My husband had his a couple days later, and agreed -- just as good as the first day. The two for one beer special was also awesome -- it was a Saturday. And the atmosphere -- who could not love being situated on the water, and the inside all decorated with gators wearing hats and other clothes. Sounds gawdy, but it was more silly and cute than that. This is my grandparents' favorite place to eat, and they take everyone there whenever they get visitors. It always makes for a good time. They said it is also a great place for lunch. I took one star off because the service wasn't exceptional or anything. I wouldn't say it was horrible either; the place was just busy. The Verdict: If I lived near there I'm pretty sure I would crave the place on a regular basis, but since I don't, I'll definitely catch it on my next visit!

If you like seafood in a low key atmosphere, this is it. The decor is reminiscent of a fisherman's house with pictures of the dock and fish plaques on the wall. The restaurant is bright. There always seems to be food on the carpeted floor. Staff are helpful and attentive. Menu selections include the ability to get fried, blackened or broiled. Sweet tea is awesome. Appetizers such as the fried dill pickles and the alligator tail are excellent. Serving sizes of entre's are generous. Prices are reasonable. Overall this is a nice place to kick back foes dinner or coming after a round of golf.

The décor was reminiscent of Bennigan's, but following an ocean motif that some may consider gaudy; however, it kept me away from my smartphone, and I enjoyed mulling over the variety of different nick-knacks present. The restaurant was clean overall without any spills or food on the floor, and the colors represented reminded me of a dock at sunset (Blues, tans, and oranges) - pleasant and calming. Unfortunately, each table is set with white placemats featuring poorly drawn cartoons surrounding the state of Florida, likely for the children or tourists to look at, but still cheapens the overall atmosphere. I arrived just after lunchtime with my family, and was quickly seated and waited on by a courteous lady named Amanda. She was knowledgeable of the menu, offered specials of the day, and was happy to answer any questions I had concerning the menu and how the food was prepared. I was told that all of the flounder was fresh, as well as the fried, crab-stuffed mushrooms and the fried squash, of which I ordered both for my table. Amanda staggered the appetizers and main courses appropriately, all which arrived hot and to order. The mushrooms were excellent, not greasy, and were stuffed as promised. I tried the stuffing separately and it did have a good crab taste that complimented the mushroom. Likewise, the squash was not greasy and was lightly battered as to yield a pleasant, flaky crust. I ordered flounder both lightly-blackened and grilled with a side of cheesy grits promised to be as good as "Ma-ma's" and black beans over rice. The lightly-blackened flounder was served in a pool of its own juices, which I would have personally liked drained before it reached me. The fish was flaky, cooked correctly, and seasoned well. The grilled version had good lines on it and had a fishier yet cleaner taste, as one would expect, and was not served in any juices, which pleased me since it showed that the staff listened to my criticism and immediately applied it. Overall, the fish was flaky, well-seasoned, well-cooked, and juicy. Quickly touching on the side dishes, the grits were excellent with just the right amount of butter, cheddar, salt, and pepper, the black beans were properly drained, tender, and the rice was fluffy. The meal comes served with hush puppies that were moist and sweet. Personally, I found them to be too sweet to be served with a main coarse, but my family members were happy to eat them all the same. I also tried some coleslaw while here and it was best I have had in some time. Amanda did an excellent job, was swift to serve, knowledgeable, and pleasant. Likewise, all the staff that I met were polite, cheerful, diligent, and clean, which really created an inviting atmosphere. I'm sure all the other servers are just as helpful as Amanda; however, she has earned my recommendation, so ask for Amanda when you visit. Overall, I had a great time, and although the experience was not flawless, it was exceptional, and by far the best seafood to come to the Green Cove Springs/Fleming Island area. I look forward to eating here again, and I encourage locals, and tourists driving through on US-17, to drop by and keep this ship afloat.

We dine at Corky Bells several times a month. The building isn't anything fancy and neither is the decor. However, the food has always been really good and is priced just right. Portion sizes are generous and our appetites are always satisfied. It's nice to have a a place to eat where you feel like you get your money's worth and the wait staff is attentive.

I took my adult son and my wife here for Mother's Day. We went after two o,clock as we knew that it would be busy. We have eaten several times at their location In Palatka, Fl. and have never been disappointed. We found this location just the same, excellent service, delicious food. My wife and I shared a seafood platter for two. Our son had the fried shrimp plate. We always order baked potatoes and their slaw. Plenty of butter and sour cream to go with the potatoes. Both excellent. Every thing cooked to perfection. We are going back this Sunday, Father's Day.

It looked interesting as I passed by, so I stopped. I should have kept going. I got the fish and shrimp daily special. Thursday night. Moderately busy. No rolls, crackers, or bread to keep you occupied while you wait and wait and wait for your food. Ketchup, tartar sauce, and cocktail sauce by request only. Waitress not terribly interested, but did not hesitate to let us know what she didn't like and wouldn't eat. Unfortunately it was what I had been interested in. Never saw her again. Another waitress served me. I flagged the hostess down to get me tartar sauce. And yet another waitress brought my check. The rubber shrimp looked real and even tasted a little like shrimp. The fish was Cod, so by definition it was frozen and not local. Almost tasteless, but not quite. The french fries were grocery store frozen french fries. The one saving grace that gave the restaurant a second star was the Collard greens which were as good as I have ever had. Another candidate for "Restaurant Impossible".

Great food. Mostly fried but you can get blackened or grilled. The hushpuppies are great. Basically your typical southern seafood place.

Food is so so but not too expensive. Has a small town diner feel with ok service. The shrimp was like rubber and they do not blacken anything, they broiled stuff with blackening seasoning. The wait staff was adequate and friendly but the over all feel was small town.

Excellent fried shrimp, the free cup of Shrimp Chowder was a nice touch. Instead of drink refills a pitcher was placed on our table.
